The house will have no more than five residents All residents have their own single bedroom, furnished to a high standard, with fitted wash-hand basin, reading lamp, clock radio, towels and bathrobe but as part of the programme you will be expected to mix with the other young people and to participate in the activities within the house.

Middlegate has its own fully qualified doctor and nurses on the Staff Team who will ensure that an appropriate and comfortable detoxification prescription will be put in place if needed. Middlegate operates a policy of zero tolerance to non prescribed drugs.

Opportunities exist to catch-up educationally if you have such a need and again, we have our own fully qualified teachers on the Staff Team. We have an Education Centre with access to computers. Some of our residents in the past have had bad experiences at school and have lost their confidence to learn, therefore, our Staff Team understand the fears you are likely to have and you will find us very supportive and non-threatening. On the other hand if you wish to continue with ‘O’ or ‘A’ level studies we can ensure that you receive appropriate coaching during your stay at Middlegate.

Every day at Middlegate will be very busy with a wide variety of activities aimed at increasing your self-esteem, confidence and educational ability.

Our Counsellors will assist you to address personal problems that may be the underlying cause of your substance misuse in the first place.

The nursing staff and other members of our multidisciplinary team will assist you to develop ways to minimize the risk of relapse in the future.

We can also offer Family Mediation and outreach services if it is considered that this is required to achieve the maximum benefit for you.
